A Caregiver's Duties May Include:
1. Assistance with personal care such as bathing,
dressing, grooming and hygiene
2. Linen change and laundry including sheets, towels
and clothing
3. Meal preparation including special diets followed
by dishes and kitchen clean up
4. Grocery shopping, pharmacy pick up and other
errands
5. Transportation or accompaniment to the bank,
salon, religious services, airport, medical and other appointments
6. Maintenance of an already clean home including
vacuuming, dusting, mopping, counter tops, sweeping house and patio
and bathroom and kitchen care
7. Medication reminders
8.
Assistance with safe transfers to and from, bed, chair, sofa,
commode, walker and wheelchair
9. Feed pets and water plants
10. Special projects at the client's direction such
as cleaning out closets and packing
11. Assistance with exercise programs and range of
motion as directed by a medical professional
12. Companionship
Caregivers May Not:
1. Climb on ladders or work on hands and knees
2. Wash windows unless authorized by a supervisor
3.
Weed or mow lawns
4. Make medication decisions
5. Do banking or manage finances
6. Do anything that legally requires a nurse or
physical therapist
7. Give out personal information such as a home or
cell phone number
If in doubt, a service coordinator is available 24 hours a day,
seven days a week
